... When the Children's Museum was founded in 1963 by the Junior League, they probably didn't envision the wonderful growth of the institution they began. When we opened the doors at our current location in 1979, the generosity of 100's of Mohawk Valley businesses, families and foundations helped make this a reality. 1,000's of children, families, schools responded enthusiastically, becoming engaged in programs and activities.
... Now, the spotlight is on the entire Mohawk Valley community to recognize the Museum as the vital resource it is and be part of its future. We receive no funding for our operating costs from the city, county, state, or federal governments. Admissions, gift shop sales and other earned income cover only part of our budget. We rely on charitable gifts from supporters throughout the community to bridge the gap. Your tax-deductible contribution can support new Museum exhibits, allow us to develop new programs, as well as provide an educationally enjoyable environment for our community which enhances our quality of life and brings in tourists.

Email Director Marlene Brown for more information on how you can become a sponsor and a Children's Museum hero.

Here's a way to donate to the Children's Museum and give yourself a break on taxes -- donate stock that has appreciated in value. If you were to sell your shares and donate the proceeds to the Museum, you would owe capital gains tax on any profit. But, if you donate those shares, IRS lets you take a charitable deduction for the full value on the date of transfer. It's simple and easy to do: Call Director Marlene Brown (315) 724-6129 or Email us to find out where our brokerage account is.

Year-End Tax Deductions The Children’s Museum is a 501c3 nonprofit institution. Admissions fees cover only about 30% of its annual expenses, so the Museum relies on the generosity of corporations, foundations, and its patrons for most of its funding each year. A gift of appreciated securities (owned for more than one year) to The Children's Museum Foundation can greatly benefit a donor by providing tax benefits through a charitable income tax deduction. On the gift date, the donor will
1) Receive a charitable income tax deduction for the full fair market value of the securities
2) Avoid paying capital gains taxes on appreciated securities, resulting from the sale of securities
3) Help The Children's Museum Foundation further its exhibits and educational programs.

Please help with a tax-deductible gift!
