Breaking News & Children's Museum Calendar Events: Come enjoy our climate controlled, fully handicapped accessible Children's Museum. The $9.00 per person admission covers the activites of the day as well as viewing the 100's of interactive exhibts on all 4 of our floors! It's the best bang for your buck in a safe, educationally enjoyable fun environment for kids from 1 to 101. For only $75. you can purchase a personalized engraved brick for the brick paved sidewalk in front of the Children's Museum. Each brick can have a maximum of 3 lines, with a total of 14 characters. Buy a brick & see your family or company name permanently in Children’s Museum history or buy a brick "in honor" or "in memory" of someone. Visitors to the museum will see the named bricks leading to our front door! Leave a lasting memory and support our community treasure. Next spring, we install our new brick sidewalk. Read more here * Download form * Order here! May/June 2008 News: In May & June we're featuring The Vincent Ruggio "Paper Cities" exhibit! Vincent, age 10, of Manlius, will exhibit his "life’s work" during the months of May & June at the Children's Museum at 311 Main Street in Utica, NY. Ruggio has devised his own measuring system and designed scale models of buildings from all over the world, made of fax paper. More than 100 of the buildings in his exhibit will be on display in the museum. Named after the artist Vincent Van Gogh, he will be the first child to have his own art exhibit at the Children's Museum. According to his mother, Ruggio has never had an art lesson but came up with the idea and method for creating the miniature buildings on his own. View more here. May/June: We're also Chartering The Galaxy Rotary Club (for kids, parents, grandparents, scouts, home schoolers, etc.) at The Children’s Museum, chartered by Rotary eClub NY1 (earthly headquarters at The Children's Museum). Members will have access to special events in the “Rotary Kids Room” activites - targeted to individual Mom’s & Dad’s; Mom’s &/or Dad’s Clubs; Grandparents; Home Schoolers; Cub & Brownie Scouts - at an affordable price. It will contain information on Character Building, Honesty, Fairness, Ethics, Safety, and Friendship: all the things we need to teach our children while they’re young, so they become instilled as a part of them when they’re going through the tough older years. March 2008 News: Saturday, March 8th, we held our Annual Science & Technology Fair Our thanks to Event Sponsor Pratt & Whitney HMI Metal Powders, Prize Sponsor Prevalere Life Sciences, Exhibit Sponsor NASA's Goddard Space Center.View 2007 pictures and fair entry forms. Saturday, March 22nd, we'll hold our Annual Easter Egg Hunt, fun for kids and families! Schedule: 10:30-10:45am for children ages 1 to 3; 10:55-11:10am for ages 4 to 6; 11:20–11:30am for ages 7 to 10. View more info and last year’s pictures. February 2008 News: Winter Break week (Feb. 15th to 20th) features lots of neat cool programs, activities & new really exciting exhibits! Read more here. January 2008 News: During January, we are only open 4 days a week - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. We're closed the other days for renovations & staff vacations. December 2007 News: Families and Visitors and Tourists enjoy the holidays in our gaily decorative festive museum, recently declared a NYS and Federal historic building! November 2007 News: Saturday, Nov. 24th from 10:00am to 4:00pm, found kids & families from 1 to 101 at The Children’s Museum’s Annual Holiday on Main Street, featuring Kindermusik for Munchkins, Twinkle the Elf balloon making, Karate U.S.A., New Horizons Barbershop Chorus, Lite 98.7 live in our Radio Room, the sounds of Tim Perry, arts & crafts on the various holidays & events celebrated in our community. A fun holiday event! (children under 1 free, reduced admission for members) Saturday night, Nov. 17th, The Children’s Museum 44th Anniversary Holiday Gala (black tie optional) took place from 6:30pm-10:30pm. The evening included catered food & full bar, live music for listening & dancing, fun holiday auction, mingling with Honorary Chair NYS Senator Joe Griffo & wife, OC DA Scott McNamara & wife, Mayor-elect David Roefaro, our board, our sponsors, other elected officials, community leaders. Donation for this annual event is only $85 per person / $150 per couple (pre-paid) or $95 per person at the door. Tickets available on Children’s Museum’s secure shopping cart. To pictures * To top * To text October 2007 News: From 10:00am to 2:00pm on Saturday, October 27th, kids of all ages enjoyed our Halloween Boo Bash a safe fun time with: Treat Stations; washable tatoos & balloon making * Halloween Arts & Crafts; Costume Contest; cool Haunted Hall; plane rides; watching Hank the Snake get fed! Admission included all the activities and events, as well as interacting with the 100's of exhibits on our 4 floors! (members and children under 1 free) September 2007 News: During this month, we gear up for Fall and close for a few days to do renovations. Check our online Calendar. August 2007 News: Friday Aug. 1st, our 4th annual International Halls of Fame Induction Ceremony took place at the museum. July 2007 News: Thurs. July 5th & Fri. July 6th, our Office of Science friend from Plasma Princeton Lab returned for his annual visit on with his exciting array of Interactive Plasma Toys! July 2007 - The Children's Museum’s new SCI-TECH Summer Camp© eagerly engaged youth, ages 10 to 14, in new and innovative initiatives so they can better perform in the areas of science and technology by utilizing newly acquired academic knowledge and hands-on skills learned at the Camp. They were engaged in creating electric cars & building interactive Robots! The Camp took place from 10:00am to 12:00pm weekdays at the museum. Email Director Brown to register for next year's Camp! July 20th & 21st, our Annual Folk Art Festival was held. featuring different cultures, all of whom contribute to our community. Visitors interacted with dancers & took part in their crafts! June 2007 News: the museum hosts several local and regional schools for their annual Educational Field Trips to our Children's Museum. Check out newest exhibits to arrive at our Museum! And our Summer programs. May 2007 News: New York State Senator Joseph A. Griffo (R, C–47) announced that The Children’s Museum in Utica will receive a $40,000 grant to facilitate implementation of an energy efficiency project. The grant funding is administered by the New York Power Authority (NYPA). He also announced the awarding of $15,000 in funding from the New York State Budget for lighting improvements in the historic downtown Utica building. Download announcement here. Read OD article. From 10:00am to 4:00pm, special activities in these four areas, included our Elves with arts & crafts, washable tatooes & balloon making, in decorated building, goody bags to take home! Saturday, December 30th, from 10:00am to 4:00pm, we hosted our fun "Family New Year’s Celebration: Welcoming 2007 at the Children’s Museum".
