Saturday December 3rd, 2005, This successful event was made possible by the hard work of Co-Chairs Joan T. Shkane, Esq. & Noreen Roubian, along with Committee members Rosalynn Lemel, M.D. & Linda Dresher, who invited community members to join with them, other board members, Honorary Co-Chairs Congressman Sherwood Boehlert, Senator Raymond Meier, Assemblywoman RoAnn Destito, and District Attorney Michael Arcuri, plus local business leaders and Gala Sponsors at our Annual Anniversary Gala.

The evening began on the Children’s Museum 1st floor, amidst the charm and warmth of our historic turn of the century Romanesque building. Folks then journeyed up our decoratively paneled central oak staircase, or via our elevator, to our 2nd floor to enjoy champagne, hors d’oeurves, a delicious Dinner & Full bar, mingled, did Holiday Shopping at our fun silent & live auction, and honored folks who contribute to the museum’s growth at our Great Friends to Kids Award. The committee scoured the area for unique items, including a Life Magazine Special Edition "To the Moon & Back" autographed by Astronaut Buzz Aldrin! From 8:30pm to 10:30 pm, attendees headed up to our 3rd & 4th floors for more food & drink, dessert & dancing to the music of the Sharp Dressed Penguins.

Our 2005 Great Friends to Kids awardees were: NYS Senator Ray Meier (who secured grant money for our new building windows); Earl Lewis (full time museum volunteer, exhibit coordinator & birthday host); and Ed Waskiewicz (sponsor of our 3rd floor International Halls of Fame: Bicycling, Rowing, Canoeing, Kayaking). They join our 2004 inductees: Patty Williams, (Co-Owner of Rig-All, whose rigs transport large exhibits into the museum); Bill Corrigan, (Owner of Wilcor & Your Store, a yearly donor), John Stephenson, (Board Vice-Chair & GE Elfun); Mary Jo Beach, (VP/GM of Regent Broadcasting who donated our WCML radio room); Congressman Sherry Boehlert, (Chair of the House Science Committee who helped secure our NASA exhibits and federal funding); and our 2003 inductees: Melva Max, Mackie Kernan & Alice Pender O'Shea (all co-founders of the museum in 1963); Ted Kibiuk (who donated his 17 ft airplane to the museum); Frank Gruenewald (founder of Christmas on Main Street); and Bill Steppe (chief volunteer for the GE Elfun's, who have built many museum exhibits).

In addition to personal reservations, corporate-sponsored tables were also available for area businesses that wished to combine entertaining & charity. Donation was only $75 per person / $140 per couple (pre-paid) or $95 per person at the door. Tickets were available from the committee, other board members, in the museum, and on our secure shopping cart. All proceeds benefitted the Children's Museum's Space Science Center. Download Flyer.
